Hi Sarah, do you have any suggestions for review documents that show the client's super/pension/investment accounts and detailed information such as balances, investment options, super contribution history for the past 5 years, performance graphs, asset allocation, insurances? I understand we can obtain performance graph from Portfolios IPS but are we able to obtain graphs based on what is available in Client Focus? We use Portfolios IPS only for accounts with data feed, and there are a range of providers that do not offer data feed.
Thank you.
Hi Eliana - thank you for a great question.
There aren’t any standard reports in Xplan that will display the full range of super/pension/investment account details you're after directly from Client Focus. While you can extract a lot of static data — such as account balances, investment options, and contribution history using Xmerge merge reports, more advanced analytics (like performance charts and asset allocation breakdowns) require the Portfolios module.
You can find a library of useful Xmerge codes here in the Iress Community, which you can use to build your own reports with much of the static data stored in Client Focus. Our Technical Services team is also available to help you with creating these reports, simply raise a request via the Iress Connect portal using the Xmerge Connect Tile (note: there may be a cost associated with this service).
However, for anything related to performance, asset allocation, and richer investment reporting, I'd strongly recommend capturing the relevant assets in the Portfolios module, even if there's no data feed available. While this may mean some manual work — particularly around entering transactions — it gives you access to more robust reporting and charting tools, including performance graphs and Corporate Actions functionality (which can help streamline things like dividends/distributions).
One way to reduce duplication is by linking Portfolio Accounts back to Client Focus Asset/Super/Pension records, so you're not maintaining the same information in two places.
Let me know if there is anything else I can help with
