Ability to make API calls using a Planner Central license
Hello All,
I am currently working on a small internal improvement project with a paraplanning company accessing Xplan using a Planner Central license.
We are contemplating making API calls to Xplan in an effort to reduce data entry errors but we are not sure if the Planner Central license would allow us to do so as there is not much information on Iress' website to that effect.
Accordingly, can anyone on here please share about whether a Planning Central license would allow us to make API calls to Xplan?
If it is not possible to make API calls using a Planner Central license, can anyone please let me know what type of license the paraplanning company would need to get in order to be able to have the ability to make API calls to Xplan?
Thank you in advance.

Hi Michael
It's great to see you exploring APIs—they can be a valuable tool in many situations.
Iress does not permit API Keys to be issued under a Planner Central license. At a minimum, the paraplanning company would need to transition to a standalone site to be considered for an API Key. Additionally, Iress would need to assess the intended use and purpose of the API before granting access.
I hope this clarifies your query.

Thank you ever so much for taking the time to respond to my enquiry.
It is deplorable that we cannot make API calls to Xplan using the Planner Central license as we had identified that the biggest workflow improvements would be from our ability to interface directly with Xplan to input client information accurately and efficiently. We will potentially explore other alternatives to Xplan (ie, competitors that allow for API calls to be made to their platform without charging an arm and a leg) so as to present an alternative to the paraplanning organisation's stakeholders.
We are open to any other alternatives and suggestions anyone might have implemented already as to the most efficient ways to enter client information in Xplan.
Thanks again.

Can you detail what precisely you are trying to achieve and where the issue sits in your process? If I can understand the use case, then I may be able to give you an alternative to achieve the desired outcome.
Thanks
