Falling into Advice
Question:
Who has had a great experience in the last couple of years, that they would like to shar, bringing on a new adviser from another career, location, education back ground?
Why?
We are now talking to a diverse range of ‘future advisers’ from all types of backgrounds including the undergraduates university cohort Striver is known for. ‘Falling into Advice’ is part of the fabric of what has got the profession to where it is today.

We have found that people transferring in to advice from other backgrounds really need to learn the advice process from start to finish so that they understand everyone's role and the hurdles. All the theory and degrees in the world is no use if you do not understand how every cog in the wheel works. During the PY year it is essential they do every job/task in the process to really understand what is involved. Anyone coming in and expecting to be "a Planner" from day 1 will struggle and probably annoy the team!

Great thread Alisdair.Barr and would love to hear from those who did fall into advice.
